C. Rankin Hobbs, CEO

Mr. Hobbs currently serves as CEO of KaMin LLC.

Mr. Hobbs’ career began in the financial services industry, which included roles at Salomon Brothers and Merrill Lynch. Subsequently, he joined Tom Chambers, a veteran of the lime business, to form a business to invest in industrial mineral and specialty chemical businesses. This venture became known as IMin Partners. Since its founding, IMin Partners has participated in numerous industrial mineral and specialty chemical businesses including pumice, diatomite, chemical additives, magnesium oxide and kaolin clay.

Mr. Hobbs serves on the Board of CR Minerals and MidContinental Chemical.

During his career, he has also served on a number of private company and non-profit Boards. He is the Past Chairman of the Agape Clinic, a health care clinic serving the underprivileged of Dallas, and is on the Board of the Hicks Muse Furst Tate Center for Private Equity at the University of Texas. Mr. Hobbs received a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.



Harlan Archer, President

Mr. Archer has served as President since 2011, and has more than 25 years of experience in kaolin processing. Mr. Archer earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Masters of Business Administration from Georgia College and State University. He completed Emory's Goizueta Business School Mini-MBA program and earned his Quality Engineer certification from the American Society for Quality Control.

Mr. Archer is active in supporting the Georgia kaolin industry through his leadership as Past President of both the Georgia Mining Association and the China Clay Producers Association, and as a Member and Past Chairman of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he was selected as the 2010 Georgia Miner of the Year by the Georgia Mining Association and is currently Vice President of the Georgia Mining Foundation.



Mark Gillespie, Vice President of Commercial

Mr. Gillespie currently serves as Vice President of Commercial and is a member of the KaMin Leadership Team. No stranger to the mineral industry, his experience includes over 20 years in various commercial and technical positions, before joining KaMin as the Global Director of Industrial Sales in 2013. Mr. Gillespie received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Business Administration from the University of Evansville.



Doug Carter, Vice President Technology and Business Development

Mr. Carter has served as KaMin's Vice President of Technology and Business Development since 2008, but has over 20 years of experience working for Kamin/J.M. Huber in a variety of roles including Marketing, Business Development and Technology, new product development, and new business development. With a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Berry College and a Ph.D. in Bio-Physical Chemistry from Clemson University, Dr. Carter leads the innovation efforts for KaMin. Dr. Carter currently serves as the Board Chair of Centre International Couchage, as the Chair of the China Clay Producers Associating Environmental Committee, and also serves on the board of local charitable and educational organizations.



Roddy Wells, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Wells joined KaMin in July 2008 as its Chief Financial Officer. He brings a wealth of financial experience in the manufacturing sector as he served previously as the Chief Financial Officer for SP Newsprint Co. He has 25 years of experience in the manufacturing sector as well as 7 years of experience in the retail sector. Mr. Wells holds the designations of Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, and Certified Internal Auditor. He majored in accounting and received a B. S. in Business Administration from Auburn University.



Jason Maxwell, Vice President Operations

Prior to joining KaMin in 2003, Mr. Maxwell has held several positions in process engineering and manufacturing management at KaMin and in other Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Maxwell received his Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University and earned his MBA at Georgia College and State University. In addition to his leadership at KaMin, Mr. Maxwell serves on the FAMU/FSU Engineering Advisory Board, the Georgia Mining Foundation Board, and is the Chair of the Industry and Government Relations Committee.



Gianluca Fedelini, Vice President of Supply Chain

With over fifteen years of experience in international logistics and purchasing, Mr. Fedelini has worked for KaMin since October 2008. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Logistics from the College of Charleston and was recognized in 2013 as one of the Top Ten under 40 Business professionals in the USA by the Italy American Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Fedelini currently serves on the board of the Atlanta Maritime Association and is actively involved with many other shipping related organizations in the US.
