Mike Nelson, President and CEO

Mr. Nelson currently serves as President & CEO of KaMin, LLC. With over 25 years of experience, he has an extensive background in public and PE-owned companies within a broad range of industrial and performance material businesses. Mr. Nelson began his career at 3M where he held diverse functional roles of increasing responsibility on a global scale. He then joined MeadWestvaco serving as Business Director, Engineered Products Group and was later promoted to Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Subsequently, he joined Wausau Paper Corporation as Commercial Vice President of the Packaging & Paper segment ascending to the position of Senior Vice President of the Technical Products Division. Mr. Nelson has also served as Vice President of Masonite International Corporation leading the Architectural & Commercial Division and, most recently, was employed by Klockner Pentaplast, a global leader in engineered films, where he held roles of Senior Vice President of Commercial Specialties and Senior Vice President of the Food & Consumer Products Division.

Mr. Nelson holds a BS in Management and Operations from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, an MBA from Loyola University Chicago, and an Advanced Management degree from Columbia Business School. He currently serves on the CADAM, S.A. board of directors as well as on the boards of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Mining Association. Mr. Nelson is also a member of the executive committee of the Industrial Minerals Association.



Giovanni Chin-A-Sen, Senior Vice President & CFO

Mr. Chin-A-Sen currently serves as CFO of KaMin LLC. He has over 20 years of experience in a diverse range of manufacturing industries including tobacco, electronics and automotive with publicly traded and private equity owned companies. Mr. Chin-A-Sen began his career at Brown & Williamson (British American Tobacco) where he held operations, quality and engineering roles. He worked as a management consultant for SolomonEdwardsGroup after which he joined Blue Bird corporation where he was part of the bankruptcy turnaround in 2006 and the initial public offering in 2015. At Blue Bird he most recently held the role of Vice President of Finance.

Mr. Chin-A-Sen holds a BS in Electrical and Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, an MS in Engineering Management from the University of Massachusetts, an MBA from the University of Michigan (Ross School of Business) and an MS in Risk and Revenue Management from Columbia University. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in Georgia and holds Financial Risk Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt and Management Accountant certifications. He also serves as a Director for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Research Foundation.



Doug Carter, Senior Vice President - Marketing, Strategy & Business Development

Mr. Carter has served as KaMin's Vice President of Technology and Business Development since 2008, but has over 20 years of experience working for Kamin/J.M. Huber in a variety of roles including Marketing, Business Development and Technology, new product development, and new business development. With a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Berry College and a Ph.D. in Bio-Physical Chemistry from Clemson University, Dr. Carter leads the innovation efforts for KaMin. Dr. Carter currently serves as the Board Chair of Centre International Couchage, as the Chair of the China Clay Producers Associating Environmental Committee, and also serves on the board of local charitable and educational organizations.



Jason Maxwell, Senior Vice President - Operations

Prior to joining KaMin in 2003, Mr. Maxwell has held several positions in process engineering and manufacturing management at KaMin and in other Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Maxwell received his Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University and earned his MBA at Georgia College and State University. In addition to his leadership at KaMin, Mr. Maxwell serves on the FAMU/FSU Engineering Advisory Board, the Georgia Mining Foundation Board, and is the Chair of the Industry and Government Relations Committee.

 

Michael McCurdy, Senior Vice President - Human Resources & Talent Management

Mr. McCurdy has over 30 years of experience in Human Resources leadership, primarily in the manufacturing sector. He served the Blue Bird Corporation as Vice-President of Human Resources and External Affairs until his retirement in January 2017. Mr. McCurdy graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas with a BBA in Business Management/Economics, and continued his Masters study at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He received his professional certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources Management in 1991. Mr. McCurdy also served as a Director with the Georgia Chamber, Georgia Workers Compensation Association, and the Georgia Employers’ Association. Mike and his wife, Rita, who is Executive Director for the Macon Volunteer Clinic, reside in Macon, Georgia.

 

Bryan Kilpatrick, Senior Vice President - Information Technology

Mr. Kilpatrick joined KaMin in 2020 to lead initiatives aimed at modernizing the business through Information Technology. He has over 20 years of IT experience with backgrounds in multinational manufacturing, retail, and e-commerce. In prior roles, he has lead IT enablement strategies for organizations going thru rapid growth and re-alignment periods. Mr. Kilpatrick holds a degree in Computer Science from Georgia Southern University.
